Council flies flag for Commonwealth celebration
Halstead town councillors flew the Commonwealth flag last Monday as part of an international celebration.
More than 750 flags were raised in 38 countries across the world to mark this year’s International Commonwealth Day.
Halstead town councillors, including mayor David Hume, joined in the unified celebration by raising the flag in the public gardens at 10am.
The celebrations were completed in Westminster when the communities secretary, Eric Pickles, raised the final flag.
