Cornard Scouts take on 24-hour cycle challenge
First Cornard Scouts kicked off their summer camp fundraising with a 24-hour static cycle challenge.
Beginning on Friday evening, the group set up their static bikes at Sudbury Tesco to cycle the distance from Land’s End to John o’ Groats.
After 23 hours and 30 minutes, they had achieved their challenge, having cycled 874 miles.
In the process, they raised £478 towards funding a trip to the Isle of Arran off the west coast of Scotland, with plans for a jumble sale and auction later in the year.
Explorer Scout leader Jake McGrath-Wells thanked Tesco and Great Cornard sports centre for their help.
“It went very well,” he said. “Spirits were high and everyone enjoyed it.”
