Young musicians are in with the chance of playing on the same stage as Scouting For Girls, with LeeStock Music Festival launching a competition to find this year’s opening act.

The battle of the bands contest returns to Ormiston Sudbury Academy on May 8 from 7pm.

For the first time, young musicians and bands from different schools – including Thomas Gainsborough School and Stour Valley Community School in Clare – will go head-to-head in the hope of being chosen.

Festival organiser Pete Keogh said the festival had raised more than £50,000 for the Willow Foundation.

He said: “It is now in its eighth year and is held in memory of Lee Dunford who, before he passed away, was treated to a special day by the Willow Foundation.”
