A GROUP of 10 musicians who play only wind instruments will be filling a church in Alphamstone with classical and modern music next month.
The Stour Winds will stage a concert at St Barnabas Church on Sunday, March 25, in aid of church funds.
The group features two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, two French horns and two bassoons.
An 11th musician on a double bass will be joining the group for this concert only.
Group member Helen Morgan, of Alphamstone Road, Bures, said they had played in churches in Edwardstone, Pentlow, Henny and Shimpling in the last few years to help raise funds for church work.
Helen, who also plays for the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra, said: “We enjoy playing in churches and it helps to raise funds for their upkeep. We hope to see 40 to 50 people at the concert but would be delighted to see more.”
The concert will be conducted by Charlotte Robertson and will also feature stories and poetry by Gill Phillips, a member of the Suffolk Poetry Society who lives in Sudbury.
Admission is free with donations to Friends of St Barnabas. It starts at 5.30pm.
