THE record success of a two-day craft fair has been celebrated after the £20,000 raised by the event was donated to good causes.
Held at the historic Clare Priory, the fair – featuring hundreds of stalls – attracted nearly 10,000 visitors in July.
Members of the event’s organising committee met recently for a presentation evening to hand out money to various charities, including the East Anglian Air Ambulance, as well as the Priory’s church extension fund.
Committee member Jane Ranzetta said: “This year, more than 200 exhibitors participated and we had record numbers of people attending.
“There were many different stalls, a bar, live music, lots of delicious food and, as always, lots of activities for children and families.
“The fair has been going for 18 years and it proved as successful as ever.”
It is thought the church’s extension project will cost around £1.2million and Mrs Ranzetta added she was already hoping the fair would raise even more money next year.
