Christmas comes to Lavenham for fair
If Bury St Edmunds’ Christmas Fayre has not dulled your festive fever, try Lavenham’s Christmas Fair next weekend.
The Market Place and the historic Guildhall and Little Hall will be awash with festive spirit as the village kicks off Christmas from Friday December 4 until the Sunday.
The Friday night will start with the lighting of the village Christmas tree in the Market Place and the arrival of Father Christmas who will be visiting the village throughout the whole weekend.
The attractions include about 80 stalls in marquees and the Guildhall selling a gifts, clothes and stocking fillers, plus food and drink stall.
The Big Wheel for both adults and children offers bird’s eye views over Lavenham or there are mMini fairground rides and the Scotty Circus Workshop.
Entertainment includes performances by the Lavenham Upbeat Contemporary Choir, Sabrina Summer, Peter Hepworth and accordionist Martina Schwarz
There is late-night shopping on Friday for all the Lavenham shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants.
Martine Crepy, from the Christmas fair organising committee, said: “Lavenham is a magical place 365 days of the year but we are working hard to ensure there is an extra sprinkle of festive celebration for our big weekend event.”
The fair will run between 5.30pm and 8.30pm on Friday, 11am and 5pm on Saturday and 11am and 4pm on Sunday.
