A handful of Sudbury residents were left bemoaning the ever-earlier creep of Christmas after spotting festive lights on in the town.
A number of people contacted the Free Press to express their displeasure after seeing the bright bulbs, which have been strung across streets including Market Hill, glowing on Tuesday night.
However, Scrooges can rest easy for a few more weeks, as town clerk Sue Brotherwood explained.
“This year, we have new contractors and are hiring the lights, which is much cheaper,” she said.
“As this is the first time they have put them up, they are up earlier than usual. The lights were on for testing.”
Mrs Brotherwood said that, if any lights remained on, it would mean timers needed adjusting and residents could let the town council know if they saw any.
