Children at Acton Playgroup welcome Beano illustrator Barrie Appleby

A renowned illustrator joined youngsters in Acton for a special drawing session earlier this month, in celebration of World Book Day.

Children at Acton Playgroup and pupils from the caterpillar class of Acton Primary School welcomed Barrie Appleby, well known for his work as the illustrator for the Beano stories.

Kim Farley, manager of Acton Playgroup, said: “Barrie spent time drawing and talking with the children.

“Three children were then presented with a print for their winning pictures.

“What a wonderful experience our children had.”
