Charity walk raises cash

A GRANDMOTHER and granddaughter have completed a five-kilometre walk to raise money for a Leavenheath animal centre.

Pat Jackson, from Second Avenue, Glemsford, and her ten-year-old granddaughter Melissa presented £300 to Maggie Jackaman at Suffolk and Essex Small Animal Welfare (Sesaw) recently.

They took part in the Adidas 5k Women’s Challenge in London’s Hyde Park in September.

Sesaw fundraiser Pat Ferdinando said: “Pat’s husband Ken, grandson Adam and son Darren gave moral support by walking the circuit on the outside of the track as it was a women-only event.”

The pair chose Sesaw because of the work it does to help rehome and rescue animals in Stoke Road, Leavenheath. It was Pat’s third fundraising walk for Sesaw and the second time Melissa has accompanied her.
