Organisers of a scheme designed to bring friendship and companionship to elderly and vulnerable people in Sudbury are hoping a cup of coffee and slice of cake might help spread the word.
The Befriending Scheme, based in Gainsborough Street, Sudbury, is holding a coffee and cake morning in support of its work with people with learning disabilities and other vulnerable adults.
It has a waiting list of 22 adults in Sudbury who would like to have someone call them on the telephone for a chat or take them shopping once a week.
Volunteer co-ordinator Nicky Russell said: “We would love to recruit more volunteers to help as we have a huge waiting list of elderly people in the Sudbury area.
“With this event, we would like to invite people along to see what we do.”
The group is currently celebrating its relocation to The Quaker Meeting House in Friars Street which is where the event is being held today between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
Entry is £2 with money raised going to The Befriending Scheme.
