Businesses and homeowners are transforming their windows with festive scenes to emulate an advent calendar in the lead up to Christmas.

The community art project proved a big success in Castle Hedingham last year, with villagers keen to see the initiative return this month.

Youngsters from De Vere Primary School gathered to mark the beginning of the project with organiser Joy Drury and staff from Buckley’s tea rooms.

The business unveiled its window design on Tuesday, which depicted a festive snow scene.

The final creation will be showcased in St Nicholas’ Church on Christmas Eve, followed by an annual Nativity service.
