POLICE are appealing for drivers to be vigilant following a rise in catalytic converter thefts.
Officers are advising that vehicles should be left in garages or well lit areas, and a converter fitted with a clamp or anti-tamper alarm to deter thieves.
“We are urging everyone to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons or vehicles,” said Verity Lines, Babergh crime reduction officer.
“The theft of a catalytic converter only takes a few minutes and it can look like the owner is working underneath the vehicle.”
