A roof tiler from Sudbury died at his home from cancer which had never been diagnosed, an inquest heard.

Gary Wilson, 58, of Cavendish Way, was found dead on a sofa at his home by his brother on January 16.

At an inquest in Bury St Edmunds last Tuesday, the court was told that Mr Wilson, who lived alone, had previously been coughing up blood and had been trying to medicate himself.

He had also complained of stomach pains but had not sought a medical diagnosis, said assistant Suffolk coroner Yvonne Blake.

Following his death, a post-mortem examination conducted by consultant pathologist Dr Mohammed Dada confirmed that Mr Wilson died from gastric cancer.

Assistant coroner Blake recorded a conclusion that Mr Wilson’s death had been due to natural causes.
