Cancer charities have benefited from the donations collected by the Sudbury Dramatic Society, following the performance of their most recent production.

The eight cast members of Ladies Down Under, a play written by Amanda Whittington, decided to hold a collection for cancer research and breast cancer charities, after the production finished its run at The Quay Theatre on Saturday, May 12.

The subject of breast cancer features heavily in the storyline of the play and has affected certain members of the cast and crew in their own lives.

In total, £450 was collected from audience members.

Mark Scanlon, the play’s director, said: “It was a gesture that arose spontaneously from the cast and seemed entirely appropriate, bearing in mind some of the play’s subject matter. Sudbury Dramatic Society would like to thank those who gave so generously.”
