Takeaway owner ready for more as he opens new chippy

A fish and chip shop owner who has taken on two new premises has not ruled out further expansion.

Mick Ladak opened Mick’s Fish and Chips in Poplar Road, Great Cornard, last week, which replaced Chinese takeaway Red Circle.

Mr Ladak, who has run a chippy in Landsdown Road, Sudbury, for 10 years, has also taken on the former Peyton Plaice fish and chip shop in the town’s Borehamgate Precinct, where he plans to open another takeaway in six weeks’ time.

“The Cornard building just came up and it fitted in with my current plans,” said Mr Ladak, who employs five workers at the takeaway.

“It means we are closer to some of our regulars, but we are also seeing lots of new faces as well.”

Mr Ladak said despite the high number of takeaways in the Sudbury area, there would always be demand for good fish and chips.

He added that he had not given up hope of opening a shop in Bures Road, where he is appealing against the refusal of planning permission by Babergh District Council.

“It would be logical to have a shop there as it is in a good position,” he said. “We will wait and see and hope.”
