Nightclub licence suspension appeal set for next month

An appeal over the suspension of a Sudbury nightclub’s licence will be heard next month.

David Pratt, owner of Easterns Station Lounge, in Great Eastern Road, had his premises licence suspended for two months in December by Babergh District Council.

A licensing sub-committee heard that children as young as 15 had been able to buy alcoholic drinks in a test purchase operation by Suffolk Police.

Former door staff claimed that Mr Pratt had also encouraged cast members of reality television show The Valleys to flash their genitals to customers. Several other breaches were alleged, accusations which Mr Pratt denied.

The club has remained open pending the outcome of an appeal by Mr Pratt.

An initial hearing at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Thursday was adjourned. The appeal will be heard on Thursday, April 18.
