A SERIES of new workshops designed to boost business in the area are taking place throughout June.
The full and half-day courses, entitled Upskilling the West Suffolk Workforce, aim to teach skills and develop employees in a bid to counteract the economic downturn.
The courses are being provided by West Suffolk College and take place at a number of venues, including Sudbury Leap Centre, in Cornard Road.
They are being subsidised by a £41,500 grant from the West Suffolk Local Strategic Partnership.
Linda Dennison, business development co-ordinator at West Suffolk College, said: “The aim of the courses is to provide training that is low cost but has an immediate business impact.
“Employers can increase their efficiency, and with things like the social media course they can learn to grow their business more easily.”
The classes cover areas such as sales and negotiation techniques, effective management of staff performance, development of customer service skills and the business benefits of social media.
John Griffiths, chairman of the West Suffolk LSP, said: “The courses have been specially selected to meet the needs of local companies. They will help individual staff to maximise their skills and expertise, bringing huge benefits to their employers.”
Full-day workshops cost £20 per person, with half days priced at £10. Places are allocated on a first come, first-served basis. For more information, visit www.westsuffolk-ac.co.uk or call West Suffolk College on 01284 716 333.
