A Great Cornard couple have started a day care centre for dogs in Sudbury to help educate and support animals and their owners.
Jonathan and Genevieve Parsons, from The Pot Kilns, started The Sudbury Dog Company on Bulmer Road Industrial Estate in February.
They refitted a large, former furniture warehouse with a reception area, a large playroom kitted out with sofas, toys, ramps and separate rest areas to provide care and exercise for up to 18 young dogs while owners are at work or have other commitments.
“The important thing for us is to make sure the dogs are happy with each other,” said Mr Parsons, who previously worked in marketing and sales.
His wife spent 15 years working with rescued dogs at the RSPCA before completing a series of training courses.
“For us, it is about trying to create a community of well-mannered dogs that play nicely with owners that have a sense of etiquette,” she said.
They currently offer one-to-one training sessions, dog birthday parties and have plans for group lessons.
The couple are also available to give advice to owners and are promoting responsible behaviour when out walking and interacting with other people.
