DRIVERS were delayed for as long as 20 minutes in Sudbury due to maintenance by BT.

Traffic lights were in place on Melford Road, near the junctions with York Road and Girling Street from Thursday until Tuesday, causing tailbacks as far as Chaucer Road and Walnuttree Lane.

A BT spokesman said: “We were carrying out essential underground cabling works.

“We would of course like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Anglian Water also apologised for problems caused by repairs to a burst water main in Ballingdon Street, which were completed on Tuesday.
