A 56-year-old man from Boxted charged with 42 counts of fraud is to be remanded in custody before a hearing at crown court.
Alan Smith was arrested in Lancashire late on Wednesday, April 29, and brought to Suffolk where he was interviewed in connection with a number of fraud offences believed to total in excess of £600,000.
His arrest came after a national televised appeal on BBC’s Crimewatch and in local newspapers which brought a number of leads.
He has been charged with 42 counts of fraud by false representation, relating to more than 20 victims, and appeared at Ipswich Magistrates Court on Friday.
He has been remanded in custody and committed to Ipswich Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on May 12.
