It will be east versus west, Suffolk against Essex and remain opposing leave next Thursday, as South Suffolk MP James Cartlidge and Braintree MP James Cleverly discuss the finer points of the EU referendum in a live debate in Bures.
With the River Stour running through the middle, Bures is split into Bures St Mary in Suffolk and Bures Hamlet in Essex.
Bures’ two MPs will take part on the debate on Thursday, June 16, from 7pm at Bures School Hall in Nayland Road. The event is free to attend, no booking necessary.
However, questions must be sent to Jill Jackson, chairman of Bures St Mary Parish Council, in advance. You can email questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
“The school is very enthusiastic about it,” said Mrs Jackson. “They think even their upper end youngsters need to have awareness. They’re doing their own EU debates in school.
“I see the referendum as the opportunity for the Bures villagers to hear their MPs’ views first hand.
“This is your opportunity to meet your MPs and to make an informed choice on EU membership.”
Mr Cartlidge is backing the campaign to remain while Mr Cleverly wants the UK to vote to leave the EU.
