Project Seven, which runs the ever-popular Big Night Out fireworks display in Long Melford, has this year supported 47 charities and organisations, giving away a total of £18,050.
At the charity’s 34th annual presentation evening at the Royal British legion Social Club in Long Melford, the chosen organisations from Long Melford and surrounding towns and villages were handed their cheques.
These were presented by president Andrew Hagger, chairman David Lilley and treasurer Graham Hardy.
Mr Hagger said: “Project Seven is a voluntary organisation, but we try to be self-sufficient and that is why we will be upgrading and replacing equipment this year.
“We do not want to receive grants from councils as we are self-financing organisation.”
Mr Hagger added that Project Seven was always looking for new volunteers from individuals and organisations.
Two organisations that started helping the charity last year were rewarded with grants.
