SUFFOLK youngsters are being encouraged to become volunteers at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
With less than a year to go before London 2012, Suffolk County Council is urging 16 to 18 year olds to take up the chance to get involved.
More than 2,000 teenagers from across the country will be recruited as part of the Young Games Maker programme, allowing those taking part to experience sport at its highest level.
Kathy Gosling, county councillor and portfolio holder for sport, culture, diversity, health and wellbeing, said: “I am delighted that our young people will have a chance to play such an important role in the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“The Games provide a collective opportunity to benefit Suffolk.
“If you have yet to plan how you will make the most of this opportunity, don’t delay or the opportunity will pass you by.”
Applications for the volunteer roles are being accepted between September 22 and October 31.
