GREAT Cornard band Shores have made it through to the area final of one of the country’s biggest music competitions.
The indie five-piece – consisting of lead vocalist Andy Hill, bassist Jacob Buckle, guitarists Sam Bartrop and Tom Livingstone and drummer Camden Clarke – won enough votes at Saturday’s Live and Unsigned regional final in Basildon to take them through to the area final in Bedford in May.
Camden said: “It was really nerve-wracking and was such a weight off our shoulders when they called our name, but we know we have to up our game for next time.”
The Live and Unsigned competition offers prizes including festival slots, studio time and cash, with the grand final held at London’s O2 arena.
Tickets for the area final, on May 13, are available from the band by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or at www.liveandunsigned.uk.com.
