A WORLD famous crime novelist will open a garden fete at the weekend.
Author Ruth Rendell is set to attend a traditional garden fete hosted by St Gregory’s Church in Sudbury on Saturday.
The event, which starts at 2pm at River House in The Croft, will include a Punch and Judy show, bowling and hoop-la.
Cakes, preserves and plants will also be available, while the town’s oldest resident, Kathleen Grimwood, who is set to reach her 110th birthday next week, is also expected to attend.
Lord Phillips of Sudbury, who is hosting the fete, said: “To have Ruth Rendell open it for us is quite special.
“Hopefully it will be the start of a great afternoon.”
