A YEAR-LONG fundraising appeal supporting adults with learning difficulties has raised more than £5,000 at its half-way stage.
The appeal was launched in March with the aim of raising £10,000 for the Helping Hands charity, which is dedicated to and campaigns on behalf of the Sudbury Resource Centre.
Groups, businesses and organisations in the Sudbury area have been encouraged to arrange fundraising activities in aid of the project, with a variety of events held over the last six months.
Centre manager Marion Corner said: “We are delighted to be on target.
“The centre is so important, not only to the adults which attend, but also because of all the services we provide to the wider community.
“I urge everyone to support this appeal in any way they can as it will go towards ensuring our long-term future.”
Sudbury manufacturer the DaRo Group is already backing the campaign, along with a number of other organisations, including Sudbury Town Council, The Horse and Groom pub and Uplands Middle School.
“The support we have received so far is fantastic and proves what a special place Sudbury is,” said Mrs Corner.
