VOLUNTEERS are being sought to become part of a new scheme to help people suffering with life-shortening illnesses.
St Nicholas Hospice Care, which supports people with cancer, multiple sclerosis and advanced heart and lung disease, is looking for people to join its Hospice Neighbours initiative in Sudbury.
The scheme, which has been piloted in other areas, aims to provide help with everyday tasks – such as walking the dog or picking up food shopping – for people who are too ill to do it themselves.
Full training will be given to any volunteers.
Scheme co-ordinator Kay Newman will be at the town’s hospice shop in Gainsborough Street on October 11 and 13 from 10am to 3.30pm, and on October 15 from 11am to 3pm, to talk to anyone interested in getting involved.
