A man was hospitalised with life-threatening injuries, following a road traffic collision in Halstead at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to High Street on Sunday, following reports that a grey Renault Laguna had collided with a bakery shortly after 9.30pm.

Paramedics treated the Renault driver, a 45-year-old man, for life-threatening injuries, and he was subsequently taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

A spokesman for Essex Police confirmed that a collision investigation is now under way, but no arrests have been made at this time.

They are appealing for witnesses or dashboard camera footage of the incident, or of the car prior to the collision.

Anybody with information which can support the investigation is asked to contact the roads policing unit on 101, quoting incident 1219 of May 12.

Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
