A Great Cornard woman has put Free Press readers’ donations to good use and made a batch of blankets for needy animals.
Karen Ewins, from Lower Reeve, appealed for spare wool to be left at the Free Press office – and received eight bin bags full within a few months.
She has spent countless hours crocheting and knitting to turn it into around 40 blankets which she will deliver to Wood Green Animal Shelter in Godmanchester tomorrow.
“I would like to say thanks for the kind donations,” she said. “I was gobsmacked when I picked up the bags.”
Wood Green Animal Shelter houses many different animals and relies on donations from members of the public.
“This shows there are some people out there who care, as it is all going to a great cause,” added Mrs Ewins.
