A woman must pay £940 for failing to remove dog mess from her garden.
Joanne Phillips, 38, of Brendon Drive, Halstead, failed to attend Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday but was found guilty in her absence.
She faced two charges of breaching an abatement notice through an excessive accumulation of dog mess in her garden on November 28 last year, and on January 19 this year.
Phillips was also found guilty of failing to comply with a notice served on her to present waste for collection in an appropriate manner. It was found to be excessive and in the wrong bin.
Miss Phillips was fined £400 and ordered to pay £500 in court costs, plus a £40 victim surcharge.
Braintree district councillor Wendy Schmitt said: “It is the responsibility of homeowners to ensure their waste is correctly disposed of. If they do not, they could face a significant fine.”
