A five-generation family from Boxford celebrated on Friday as their great-great-grandmother turned 90.
Around 30 friends and family visited Ethel Carter at her home in Fitzgerald Meadow to celebrate her landmark birthday.
Ethel, who was born in Groton, first moved to Assington with her late husband Frank where they lived for around 50 years.
They moved to Boxford 10 years ago before Frank, who had earned a living at a printing factory on an industrial estate in Sudbury, died.
After a busy day on Friday, the celebrations continued into Saturday when the five generations went for a birthday dinner at The Crown in Stoke-by-Nayland.
The rest of the family include Ethel’s great-great-grandson 18-month-old Freddy Harvey, great-granddaughter Harriet Bourner, 22, granddaughter Carole Bourner, 48, and daughter Dianne Buckle, 70.
Carole said Ethel was thrilled to meet her great-great grandson Freddy when Harriet gave birth 18 months ago and loves to dote on the youngster.
“She couldn’t believe it,” said Carole. “She said ‘I never thought I’d see my great-granddaughter have a son’.”
