FILM buffs will be delighted to learn that a new film club is to be launched in the new year at Sudbury’s Quay Theatre.
The project is the brainchild of Sudbury-based TV documentary maker Simon Frampton, who has been showing films at the theatre for four years.
He is now planning to screen a whole series of classic films from 1890 – from the advent of talkies – to the present day.
He said: “It has been a long time ambition of mine to operate a film club. I believe passionately in making film available to everyone, and not just the audiences the modern multiplexes cater for.”
The new club is a membership-only format and each meeting will comprise of an introduction from Simon, followed by a film show and then a discussion group with coffee and tea for those who want it.
The first showing is on Thursday, January 13, at 11am and if there is enough interest, there will also be an evening film club.
