Show heralds start of year

DAFFODILS, hyacinths and various pot plants created a colourful display when Nayland and District Horticultural Society held its spring flower show at the church hall.

There were nearly 70 entries and the judges were impressed with their quality.

Secretary Lorraine Brooks said: “They felt the standard generally was better than last year, so we were pleased.

“The recent warm weather brought a greater variety of plants forward and, for us, this show heralds the beginning of our horticultural year.”

Winning exhibitors were Barry and Elizabeth Wakefield, Sheila Sessions, Jackie Grant, Lorraine Brooks, Hazel Gardiner, Sylvia Bond and Trevor Smy.

The society’s next event is its annual meeting and fun quiz at the church hall on April 17 at 7.30pm.
