An amateur dramatics group has promised its next performance will be better than ever.

The Lavenham Players’ next production will be William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and will again be set in the elegant surroundings of Lavenham Hall.

Last year, the company’s production of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing was a sell-out, with the live band that accompanied the performance set to return.

As a fun and accessible introduction to Shakespeare and Twelfth Night, the organisers are holding two pre-audition workshops.

These will take place at Lavenham Village Hall on Sunday, February 15, and Saturday, February 21, running from 2pm to 4pm on both dates.

The workshops will provide participants with a simple two-hour taster session of what speaking and performing Shakespeare is all about.

Tom Eddington, from the Lavenham Players, said: “Whether young or old, a seasoned Shakespeare performer or a keen novice, all are more than welcome to come along, loosen up and have some fun.”

Following the workshop dates, open auditions for Twelfth Night will then be held at the village hall on Sunday, March 1, from 2pm to 4pm, and on Monday, March 2, from 7.30pm.
