A SUDBURY rock band is set to go global after being handed the chance to perform a live show screened on the internet.

Never a Hero, a four-piece band renowned for wearing masks while they perform, swept past 350 other bands in the Red Bull Bedroom Jam competition and will now broadcast a live show on Monday.

“You enter a competition like this in the hope of doing well,” said singer and guitarist Toby C. “But you don’t really expect in your wildest dreams to claim top spot.”

Drummer Daisy Lai added: “The live show is an amazing opportunity to reach out to a huge new group of fans.”

Satellite trucks will be rolling into Sudbury, ready to beam Never a Hero live to the world, at 5pm.

Fifteen other bands will perform live shows and the best will be picked to play at some of the UK’s biggest music festivals, including Download and T in The Park.

Previous winners of the competition include You Me at Six and My Passion, who have gone on to launch successful careers in the music industry.
