Christmas trees can be dropped off for recycling at various collection points across the area from this weekend.

Real trees, minus the decorations, can be left at sites, including the Kingfisher Leisure Centre car park in Sudbury, the Stevenson Centre in Great Cornard and Stonehouse Road car park in Hadleigh.

The recycling scheme is run by Babergh District Council and, once collected, the trees will be chipped and composted at a composting facility.

Since the scheme began six years ago, in conjunction with Mid Suffolk District Council, more than 6,000 trees have been recycled.

To find out where trees can be left, go to www.babergh.gov.uk.
