The newly-refurbished Halstead Leisure Centre is the venue for a community-focused indoor winter triathlon taking place next Sunday.

It is being staged from 9.30am to 4pm to raise money for children’s charity Action For Children.

It features swimming, cycling and running in 20-minute periods, with 10 minutes in between each activity. There will be prizes for the top performers and for the person who raises the most money for charity.

Braintree councillor Jo Beavis said: “It is great for our district’s leisure centres to be put to good use like this, hosting fun and challenging events that members of the community can get involved in whatever the weather. This is a great opportunity for people in Halstead.”

Registration is £10, with a minimum sponsorship amount of £30.

Registration forms are available from the leisure centre or by contacting Lyndsay Wood on 01284 755953.
