Have you noticed that, insidiously and over a small number of years, the glorious, colourful and imaginative garland of lights that adorn our town and city centres at Christmas have diminished and in some places vanished altogether?
Financial restraints, issues over public safety fears (litigation complex!), "carbon footprint" concerns and so on have swallowed up the desire to brighten up the streets with the glow of Christmas, and to create an atmosphere that says symbolically
"The Light of the World has come".
Negatives have stamped out the brightness like a cold, dark cloud covers the sun. Or have they?
Many years ago a major spiritual campaign was launched in an attempt to snuff out the life and therefore the influence of one who was regarded as "The True Light that gives lights to every man".
Of course it failed, and even though the physical body that contained that light was temporarily destroyed, believe me when I tell you that The Light continues to burn as bright and as glorious as ever.
Christmas, traditionally, has passed.
The decorations are being put away, the holiday is over.
Life, wherever Christmas is celebrated, is returning to normal.
The "festive season" draws to an end and the negatives of daily living re-emerge hungrily from beneath the comforting cloak of the message of "Joy to the World and Peace to all". However, within the hearts of those who acknowledge The Light as the Saviour of the World, that light lives on and despite all the restraints and issues, burns brightly. Thus the influence continues.
This New Year make it a new life by believing in The True Light. I promise you that light will burn within you, and the glow will show.
