Friends of a former Bulmer villager who every year made hundreds of pancakes to raise money for charity kept alive the tradition this Shrove Tuesday.
Villagers made around 380 pancakes in Bulmer Village Hall, raising approximately £300 for St Andrew's Church in the process. The pancakes were delivered to people across the area while many people dropped into the village hall to pick up theirs on their way home from work or school.

The tradition was started by Brenda Jolly, who died in September, and villagers vowed to keep the annual event going in her memory.

The cooking team included the vicar of St Andrew's, the Rev Eion Buchanan and church members.

Margaret Mills, parochial church council member, said: "It was a great day and I think we lost count of the amount of pancakes we cooked in the end.

"We all decided that Brenda must be very pleased with what we were all doing."
