Harry Potter and Cinderella were among characters spotted at a Sudbury primary school on Friday as they celebrated World Book Day.
Children at St Joseph's Primary School celebrated the day by coming to school dressed as characters from their favourite books.

The school marks the day every year with activities to spark the children's interest in reading.

Headteacher Janet Beswick said, "With competition coming from DVDs and television for their attention, it is important for children to see how enjoyable reading can be."

On Thursday the children were given a voucher to exchange for a book of their choice and they visited the local library.

The next day they chose whether to dress as their favourite book character, or come in their pyjamas, bringing with them their favourite bedtime book.

Mrs Beswick said the day had been a great success and that the children had really enjoyed it.
