Former Hadleigh Cricket Club bowler Reece Topley has been selected in the One Day International (ODI) and Twenty/20 (T20) squads for England’s upcoming tour in South Africa.

Topley and his fellow England players, not currently involved in the Test series, will arrive in South Africa on January 23 to begin their preparations for the ODI series.

The first ODI takes place on February 3 in Bloemfontein, before going to Port Elizabeth, Centurion, Johannesburg and then finishing in Cape Town on February 14.

The two T20 internationals will take place following the conclusion of the ODI series and are set to be staged in Cape Town on February 19 and two days later in Johannesburg on February 21.

Topley, whose family home is in Polstead, not far from where it all began on a cricket pitch in Hadleigh, made his England senior debut as recently as late August in a T20 victory over Australia where he took his first wicket as England won by five runs.

The fast bowler, whose father is former England player Don Topley, left Essex to join Hampshire at the end of last season and will line up for the south coast side when the 2016 season gets under way in the spring.
