Sudbury Cricket Club have signed up a player who has experience of the New Zealand international set-up for the forthcoming season.
Rory Darkins, who spent last season opening the batting for Cambridge Granta, has previously played in New Zealand’s under-17 and under-19 squads.
The 21-year-old leg spinner is currently out in Australia, playing for Sydney, where the Talbots hope he will be gaining valuable experience before the start of the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League season opener in April.
Darkins, who has also stepped out for Cambridgeshire under-25s and Northants under-19s, said: “I am really looking forward to playing with Sudbury this season. It’s an honour to be at a club with such a proud history and I hope to contribute towards making 2013 a memorable year.”
Vice-chairman Louis Brooks said: “Rory will also bring a great amount of coaching experience and he will be a great addition to the club.
“It will be great to have him at Sudbury next season.”
