Touch tournament raises cash for Rix fund

TEN teams took part in the opening night of Sudbury Rugby Club’s summer season of touch rugby.

The teams will be taking part in a round-robin competition spread over three consecutive Friday evenings this month.

The teams comprise mixed ability players of both sexes and a range of age groups to encourage participation of families.

Teams from outside the rugby club but within the local community were invited to join in in an effort to promote the sport and this has been well supported, with the tournament a fundraiser for the trust fund for Alfie Rix, son of Subury prop Josh, who died tragically aged 23 earlier this year.

This Friday the round robin continues, with play-offs the week after. Competition starts at 7pm and all are welcome.
