Sudbury booked their place in the Suffolk Plate final with a comprehensive 61-0 semi-final win over Stowmarket on home soil on Sunday.

The sizeable victory sets up a final against Ipswich YM, to be played on December 15, with the venue yet to be confirmed.

Sudbury’s forwards were always stronger in Sunday’s match, creating a good foundation for the side’s skilful backline.

By half-time they had run up a 37-0 lead with tries scored by numerous players, but number 12 Chris Lewis contributed with two.

The second half was
similar with Sudbury continuing to dominate with Sam Rust scoring two further tries.

SUFFOLK PLATE

Sudbury 19 Harwich 12

Three first-half tries was enough to see Sudbury through in the Suffolk Plate against Harwich.

Kai Norman scored three minutes in, with Charlie Osbourne converting.

Braedon Bliss-Richardson ran in the second, converted by the man who set him up, Nic Bragoli-Jones.

It was the latter who scored the last Sudbury try just before the break, with the team holding on in a nervy second half where Harwich scored two tries.

It was not a great day at the office for Sudbury’s mixed ability ‘Movers’ and ‘Shakers’ sides with visitors Maldon coming out with three victories to one.

Sudbury Movers 3 Maldon 1

There were some pleasing passages of play, albeit with some indication of what would follow if Sudbury did not commit physically in the breakdown area.

Sudbury Shakers 3 Maldon 0

This was a very disjointed a performance from Sudbury – attacking players not off loading and becoming isolated.

Sudbury Shakers 2 Maldon 4

An improved performance from Sudbury but the same result.

Sudbury Movers 2 Maldon 3

A late score for Maldon earned them victory, with Sudbury having been up 2-1 at half-time with two well-taken tries.

Sudbury Movers: Arthur Burns, Gilbert Keitley-Webb, Ed Hughes, Ollie Wolfe, Noah Gardener-Hertz, Logan Cripps, George Derbyshire, James Searle, John Cowie, Joel Tullin.

Sudbury Shakers: Tom Ryan, Jack Christey, Charlie Richardson, Olly Harper, Elliott Blair-Slater, Evan Brown, Thomas Crawshay, Cameron Aitken, Tommy Nitsche.
