Sudbury Rugby Club bade a sad farewell to Josh Rix prior to Saturday’s game against Norwich, with a minute’s silence.

It was impeccably observed and followed by a minute’s applause for the player, who died suddenly in Australia on January 12.

Josh, 23, a regular in the Sudbury first team for four years, was popular with players and supporters alike, clearly indicated by the large turnout at Whittome Field. His father Nick and other family members were among the crowd who stood in silence.

Josh had flown out to Perth with brother Tim after their mother Julie was taken ill, but she sadly died before they arrived. The funerals will take place at St Mary’s, Hadleigh at midday on Tuesday, February 14.
