RUGBY - England and Harlequins number 8 Nick Easter took training session with Hadleigh Rugby Club juniors.

HADLEIGH Rugby club juniors were treated to a training session they will never forget on Sunday after two England Internationals took over as the coaches.

Harlequins number eight Nick Easter and London Wasps prop Tim Payne spent the entire morning taking training sessions with 150 children from the club’s under-7s to under-14s sides, passing on their wisdom as well as taking time out to sign autographs for the awe-struck youngsters.

The once-in-a-lifetime session, which came about as a result of Barnaby Rugge-Price, parent of one of one of the players, winning a Christmas auction, continued after the training had finished as the rugby union stars also presented the player of the month awards for each respective age group.

Russell Breyer, press liaison for the Hadleigh youth team, praised the coaching approach of Easter and Payne highly, as he spoke about the impact on the youngsters after their unforgettable training session.

“It was an absolutely fantastic experience for everyone involved on the day,” he said.

“To have international players of their stature at a small club like ourselves is amazing and it certainly created a vibrant atmosphere.

“That kind of event was particularly inspirational for the children involved and what an experience it must have been to spend time and learn from the two of them.

“What was fantastic was how much they engaged with everyone and how generous they were to spend time with each of the age groups.

“All of the children involved couldn’t talk about anything for the rest of the day once it had finished, so it was certainly a memorable experience for all of them.”
