Tombs looks at top 10 finish

HALSTEAD and District Motorcycle Club’s Lewis Tombs is on for a top 10 finish as he heads into the final round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross MX2 Championship at Little Silver in Exeter this weekend.

Tombs sits in ninth place in the standings after seven rounds with 156 points, just 17 points ahead of Jordan Booker in 11th place.

Meanwhile, the club’s Chris Bastick claimed overall victory in Group A at the Eastern Centre MX meeting at Wattisfield Hall, organised by Diss MCC, with a hat-trick of wins. Bob Kavanagh was the overall winner from Group B.

Three straight wins left Brendon Mayers as the overall winner of the AMX Open Class at the EASSC Club Championship in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire with Nathan Braithwaite in second and Dean Birkinshaw in third.
