Snooker: Sudbury B stay top despite Sible slip-up
THE Sudbury and District League’s new 15-minute frame competition saw Earls Colne A get off to a flying start.
There were some high-scoring matches in the opening fixtures of the competition, none more so than in the Group A match between Earls Colne A and Lavenham Royal British Legion A where the home side racked up a total score of 668 points over the 10 frames.
Luke Heard was in superb form for Earls Colne, playing three of the 15-minute frames and amassing an incredible 380 of the home side’s points.
Heard had breaks of 24, 31, 37, 37, 58, 21 and 21 in the three frames he played in and although well outscored by the home team, Lavenham RBL A still managed a very creditable 528 points.
The other match in Group A saw a good victory for the league’s basement team, Long Melford RBL B, as they travelled to Sible Hedingham and won 390 points to 239 — the Legion players outscoring the hosts in eight of the 10 frames.
In Group B there were away wins for Earls Colne B at Sudbury Snooker Club B and for Long Melford Working Men’s Club C at their A team counterparts.
