MATT Shotbolt’s domination of the Cycle Club Sudbury Thursday evening time trial series continues with last week’s win on the Lavenham 10 course, making it five in a row.

The previous week’s race was on the Acton Circuit and Shotbolt won in a personal best time of 18 minutes 49 seconds from Jonathan Weatherley, also in a personal best time, of 18.59.

Kirsty White (25.29) improved by four minutes and 23 seconds and junior Tom Littlewood (22.22) improved by 3.35. The fastest woman was Sandra Mackay, 11th, in 21.27.

Twenty-nine riders took part in the penultimate time trial on the Lavenham course with the race for the points trophy almost over.

Long-term leader Darren Rule, finishing in 25.25 for 12th, increased his total to 996 points, from second place Charles Pratt (26.41), who scored 175pts on the night.

Kirsty White broke the 30-minute barrier with 29.58, improving by 5.29.

The race was won by Shotbolt (22.35) from Simon Daw (23.18) and James Rush was third in 23.37.

There were other notable rides from West Suffolk Wheelers Martin Wilson (24.27), improving by 1.33 and Barbara Law, the club’s star duathlete who competes internationally in her age group, in 32.23.

The final event starts at 6.45pm on the Brent Eleigh course.
