Marathon man double

HALSTEAD Road Runners marathon specialist Andy Wilmot completed two marathons in two days at the Great Barrow challenge near Bury St Edmunds. Wilmot recorded times of 4 hours 55 minutes and 4 hours 47 minutes.

Multi-sport specialist Sam Wolton completed the Harwich Triathlon. Over distances of a 300m swim, 24km bike and 5km run, Wolton finished in 1 hour 18 minutes 5 seconds. He recorded split times of 6 minutes 7 seconds for the swim, 49:39 on the bike and 20:30 for the run.

Three HRR members made the short to trip to Mersea Island. In cloudy conditions 200 runners set off in a clockwise direction along the beach into a strong headwind. Mike Grealy recorded one hour 39 minutes. Peri Collins and Wayne Kern also completed the race with time details yet to be provided.

In the Leisure FM trail run from Greenstead Green Farm and Tea Shop, Luke Allen, Gavin Allen and Sam Wolton all completed the four-mile route in 40 minutes 35 seconds.

On the eight-mile course Sam Wolton and Gavin Allen crossed the line in one hour nine minutes, with Stewart Ellis just behind in 1:12.

n THE Lamarsh five-mile run was organised for Halstead Road Runners’ senior club runners and potential new members. The club organises six events like this across the summer, which use a pub as the start and finish point. For more information call club captain Wayne Kern on 07801 722794.

n THE Halstead Fun Run takes place on Sunday. There will be a five-mile run for seniors and 1k and 2k for juniors.
